REPORT: Washington State’s Ernie Kent will return next season

Washington State AD Pat Chun has confirmed that head basketball coach Ernie Kent will return next season. In an interview with Pullman Radio News, Chun said;

“Ernie Kent has a passion and belief that he will get this thing done. That basketball program needs all of our support, so we all need to just get behind him and lets let him write this next chapter of Cougar basketball history.”

Kent has been the head coach at WSU since 2014 and has compiled a 47-77 record (12-19 this past season). He also spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Oregon (1997-2010 – 235-173), and six seasons as the head coach at St. Mary’s (1991-1997 – 90-80).

Kent received a one-year rollover extension following last season which pays him $1.4 million per season through 2022.
