Rhode Island College adds Daniel Jones to Men’s Basketball Staff

Rhode Island College has named Daniel Jones as an assistant men’s basketball coach. Jones will assist Head Men’s Basketball Coach Michael Byrnes with all facets of the program, including recruiting, scouting, administering practice and game coaching.

“I would like to thank Coach Byrnes and Athletic Director Don Tencher for the opportunity to be part of a storied basketball program here at RIC,” said Jones. “I look forward to working with Coach Byrnes and learning from him and to be part of the Anchormen community.”

Jones comes to RIC after spending the past two years as an assistant coach at Medaille College. At Medaille, Jones helped lead the team to a 21-7 mark in 2016-17 and an appearance in the NCAA Div. III Tournament.

He has served as a camp counselor throughout the Northeast region, working at the Carmelo Anthony Camp, the Howard Garfinkel Coaching Clinic, the Columbia University Basketball Camp and the Hofstra University Elite Camp.

Jones served as the team manager both as an undergraduate and graduate student at Hofstra. He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and American studies from Hofstra in 2012. He earned a master’s degree in education from Hofstra in 2015.
