Richard Bland College Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Andrew Lacey has announced the addition of John “Riley” Highfill to the men’s basketball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach for the 2023-24 school year.
Highfill, a Richmond, Virginia native, is currently enrolled and studying at Liberty University for his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management.
Highfill is currently the Head Basketball Coach for Team Loaded AAU. He is responsible for, but not limited to monitoring student athletes academic progress ensuring they remain eligible under NCAA guidelines, manages scouting reports on opponents in order to prepare teams for upcoming games, creates and manages a budget to ensure financial responsibility within the athletic program, and instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training. Prior to leading Team Loaded, Highfill was an Assistant Basketball Coach for the men’s and women’s programs at Benedictine High School. During his time at Benedictine, he developed and implement individualized fitness programs for athletes to improve agility, strength, balance, and coordination. He also maintained practice session records, pre-game warm-ups, and mental preparation. Highfill also holds a USA Gold License for USA Basketball.
Damon Silvestro returns as the Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator alongside Christopher Gholson as Assistant Coach. Head Coach, Andrew Lacey also welcomes Joshua Pierce as a Special Assistant to Head Coach for the 2023-24 season.
