Richards named Assistant Basketball Coach at Robert Morris

Pat Gallagher Head Coach Andy Toole has announced the addition of New Castle, Pa. native Anthony Richards as an Assistant Coach.

“I have known Anthony since he was in junior high school. He has always impacted winning at every level as a player and now as a coach,” said Toole. “His enthusiasm and knowledge to motivate our student-athletes is at an extremely high level. We know he will impact winning here at Robert Morris while helping our student-athletes reach their maximum potential.”

Richards spent last season at Sacred Heart, where he coached three Northeast Conference (NEC) all-conference players. In his lone season with the Pioneers, he helped lead them to their highest NEC regular season finish since 2020-21.

He spent the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons at Holy Cross. During his first year with the Crusaders, Richards was the Director of Basketball Operations before being elevated to Assistant Coach in his second season.

Richards began his coaching career under Sean Miller at Arizona as a Graduate Assistant in 2018 before being promoted to the Director of Student-Athlete Development in 2019. In his final two years at Arizona, Richards served as the program’s Head Video Coordinator and the liaison with the academic and compliance office.

As a player, Richards was a two-year starter and three-year letter-winner at Le Moyne. He scored 503 points and recorded 138 assists while leading the Dolphins to 59 victories, the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference championship and a trip to the 2018 NCAA Division II Elite 8.

Richards earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Le Moyne in 2018 and his master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Arizona in 2020
