Rob Peterson Joins Coker Men’s Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

Rob Peterson has joined the Coker University men’s basketball staff as an Assistant Coach, announced today (Friday, May 13) by Head Coach Jarred Merrill.

“Rob is going to bring energy to the position, he’s very knowledgeable, knows how to connect with people and is extremely eager to help serve the program,” said Merrill. “He will be a great addition to our coaching staff.”

Peterson comes to Coker after a playing career at Division I High Point University, where he served as team captain. While a student-athlete at High Point, he was a member of the High Point Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the High Point Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, was a three-time selection to the Big South Conference Honor Roll and also a four-time High Point University Millis Scholar. He was also an intern at Smith and Wright Sport Management, worked the Tubby Smith Basketball Camp and also shadowed the Assistant General Manager of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, his father Buzz Peterson.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to join Coker University,” said Peterson. “I am so humbled and grateful that Coach Merrill has given me this opportunity. It’s truly an honor to start my career off at Coker University. I look forward to developing the players and working tirelessly for this program.”

Peterson holds a Bachelor of Arts from High Point in Sports Management. He is engaged to Mallory Jenkins, and the couple has a 14-month old daughter named Stella.
