A Missouri native, Edwards also spent two seasons as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Iowa Wesleyan University in Mt. Pleasant, IA. He specializes in player development and recruiting.

“I am happy we were able to add another very solid coach to our staff at Rock Valley College,” said Coach Doty. “Alex and I have worked together with our camp organization Midwest Elite Basketball for three years and he has been nothing short of outstanding. His attention to detail, his specialization in player development, and his knowledge and caring about all aspects of the student-athlete will help us continue to produce at a high level on and off the court.”

Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia College (MO) and a master’s degree from the University of Central Missouri in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management.

After helping lead the Golden Eagles to a 61-9 record over the past two seasons which includes an NJCAA DIII National Championship and an NJCAA DIII National Runner-Up, Evan Lavery has been promoted to associate head coach.

A proven recruiter with excellent game management capabilities, Lavery spent one season at Rockford University before coming across town to join the Coach Doty’s staff. “Evan has done a great job for us; he is involved in every decision we make in the program,” said Coach Doty. “He is a great young coach. I am excited to continue working with Evan and feel he will make a tremendous head coach in the near future. Evan makes every aspect of our program better and that helps us create an exceptional experience for our student-athletes.”

Lavery holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Central Methodist University and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Fort Hays State University (KS).
