Royals Add Gattin as Assistant Coach

Head Coach T.K. Smith announced Monday the hiring of Tyler Gattin as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.  Gattin will join second year Assistant Coach Al McCarron on the sideline with Smith for the 2015-16 season.

Smith had the following to say about the hire:

“I’ve known Tyler for over five years now and have been patiently waiting for him to finish up at Ouachita Baptist so that we could extend him this offer.  I’m thrilled that he will be with us this year!  He knows the game well and has a great strategic mind.  He will be very involved in game preparation.  He’s also a young man of high character and has a passion for the game and helping others.  Because of this I know our team will trust and respect him from the beginning.”

Tyler Gattin enters his first season as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Ecclesia College for the 2015-2016 season. Before Ecclesia College, Gattin was a student assistant at Ouachita Baptist University under Head Coach Dennis Nutt, who was the Coach of the Year in the Great American Conference. While serving as the Student Assistant, Ouachita Baptist University won the conference regular season title going 16-4.

Gattin also played under Dennis Nutt for three years at Ouachita Baptist University.  In his sophomore season (2012-2013), he won a conference tournament title. Gattin received his BA in Kinesiology with a minor in Education and Public Policy from Ouachita in 2015 with a 3.0 GPA.

Gattin graduated at Benton High School, Benton, Arkansas. Gattin was a three year letterman (2 years at Benton, 1 year at Bryant High School). While playing, Gattin led the Panthers to a 20 win season and conference championship his senior year.
