With the departure of Anthony Grant yesterday to Alabama, the rumors have started swirling about his replacement at VCU.

There are a ton of high major assistants who are trying to get involved here. This job has been a great spring board – look at the last two coaches. Jeff Capel moved on to Oklahoma, Grant to Alabama. Texas assistant Russell Springmann is reportedly high on the list, as is Kansas assistant Joe Dooley. Also, Oklahoma assistant (and former SC State head Coach) Ben Betts will warrant some consideration. There are also a bunch of DI head coaches who are trying to get involved. Morgan State’s Todd Bozeman is an attractive candidate. He’s completely re-built his career at Morgan St. after the issues at Cal, and looks like he could be a contender here. Navy’s Billy Lange and Auburns Jeff Lebo are also reportedly in the mix.

I would look for VCU to move quickly here, with someone in place possibly by next weeks Final Four.
