Rutgers Head Men’s Basketball Coach Eddie Jordan today announced changes to the Scarlet Knights’ coaching staff. Mike O’Koren will transition to senior advisor, Dalip Bhatia will serve as assistant coach and Corky McMullen has been promoted to director of basketball operations.
“It is integral for a coach to not only put his players in the best position for success, but his staff as well,” said Jordan. “Mike is my biggest confidant. His distinguished career as both a player and coach make him perfectly suited for this role. Dalip returns to a position in which he excelled at St. Peter’s and Kean. His tireless work ethic serves the program well, especially on the recruiting trail. Corky is dedicated to supporting the best interests of our players and staff. He is well suited to handle the team travel and general operations of the program.”
A Jersey City native, O’Koren is in his second season on staff. A collegiate All-American at North Carolina under Dean Smith, O’Koren arrived “On the Banks” with 10 years of NBA coaching experience and eight seasons of NBA playing experience on his resume. O’Koren transitions to the position of senior advisor to Jordan after serving as an assistant coach last year. In his new role, O’Koren will assist the coaching staff in developing strategy, analyze game film and contribute to practice preparation and staff meetings.
Bhatia served the past two years as the Scarlet Knights’ Director of Basketball Operations. A New Jersey native and Rutgers graduate, he spent five seasons as an assistant under SPU head coach John Dunne after serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Kean in 2007-08.
McMullen is in his sixth year of service to the program. He was the program’s director of player services in 2014-15 after working four seasons as the coordinator of basketball operations/video.
