Rutgers staff update

Rutgers University head men’s basketball coach Eddie Jordan announced today that Kyle Triggs will serve as assistant coach and Dalip Bhatia will be the program’s director of basketball operations. Triggs arrives “On the Banks” after working as Assistant to the Head Coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, while Bhatia most recently served as Assistant Coach at St. Peter’s University.

“We are very excited to add Kyle and Dalip to our staff,” said Jordan. “They are high-character individuals who will represent the program well. Kyle is hard working and industrious. He has a great insight for the game. Dalip is a Rutgers man. He is detail-oriented and highly regarded in the metro basketball community.”

Triggs, 29, worked with the Lakers from 2011 to 2013 under head coaches Mike Brown and Mike D’Antoni and coordinated advance scouting and analysis of upcoming opponents. He was responsible for all video aspects, including player development edits, scouting edits and self scouting edits. He also assisted in player development workouts, such as pre and post-practice workouts, pre-game workouts and summer workouts.

A native of Martinsburg, W.Va., Triggs arrived in Los Angeles after serving as an assistant coach at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio from 2008 to 2011. Prior to Walsh, he was a graduate assistant at his alma mater, West Virginia University, under head coach Bob Huggins in 2007-08. The Mountaineers’ head student manager for three seasons, Triggs earned a degree in athletic coaching education from WVU.

Bhatia, 30, served as an assistant coach at St. Peter’s from 2010 to 2013 under head coach John Dunne and helped the Peacocks to the 2011 MAAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Cited by St. Peter’s as the first known Division I men’s basketball assistant coach of Indian descent in NCAA history, he was elevated to assistant coach after working as the team’s Director of Basketball Operations. Prior to arriving in Jersey City, he was assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Kean University in Union, N.J. for the 2007-08 season.

A native of North Brunswick, N.J., Bhatia earned a degree in accounting from Rutgers in 2005. He worked as a senior auditor at Deloitte LLP in Princeton from 2005 to 2007. During his tenure with the firm, he began his career on the hardwood, also serving as a volunteer assistant boys varsity coach at North Brunswick High School.
