Mo Bethea joins the SLCC Men’s Basketball Program for the 2023-2024 season as an Assistant Coach. A Virginia native, Bethea most recently served in the same role at College of Southern Idaho, in Twin Falls. Mo helped lead CSI to a perfect 29-0 regular season record for the first time in school history since 1977. During his time at CSI, Mo was named Offensive Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, and Camp Director, while also overseeing player skill development, scouting reports, and film breakdown.
“We are very excited about the addition of Coach Bethea to our basketball program,” said SLCC Head Coach Kyle Taylor. “His energy and passion for the game has already made an impact on our team. Mo has been able to build a strong rapport with our players and make a positive impact on our individual skill development program.”
Prior to his lone season at CSI, he served two seasons as an assistant coach at Warner Pacific University where he oversaw player skill development, recruiting, film breakdown, and practice planning. He also experienced a successful playing career there.
In his coaching career, Mo has coached a 1st Team All-American selection, a HM All-American selection, a Player of the Year selection, Six 1st Team All-Conference selections, a 2nd Team All-Conference selection, and Four HM All-Conference selections.
As a player, Mo helped lead WPU to two National Tournament appearances and two “Sweet 16” runs. Throughout the course of his playing career, he made his mark on the record books, currently sitting at seventh in 3-point field goals made, eighth in 3-point field attempts, eighth in games started, 12th in total minutes played, 15th in assists, 16th in steals and 20th in game played.
