Former University of Texas standout Terrence Rencher has been named as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Sam Houston State University.

Rencher comes to SHSU from Tulsa where he helped direct the Golden Hurricane to a 17-14 overall record and a third-place finish in the 2012 Conference USA race.

He previously coached two seasons as an assistant at Texas State University in San Marcos and was a graduate assistant under Rick Majerus at Saint Louis University.
