Indian River State College has finally ended their search for a new men’s basketball coach by hiring Joe Sanchez. Sanchez was most recently a girls HS basketball coach in Florida. He does have major college experience – on the women’s side though. He was the head coach at Wake Forest, Navy, Central Florida, Missouri-St. Louis, Nebraska Kearney, and William Woods. In 25 years as a head coach, he is 448-291. Women’s assistant Albrey Grimsley did a great job in the interim in a tough position. She went 5-6 after taking over the team just before their first game. Sanchez will begin coaching the team this weekend.
