Head Coach Doug Gottlieb has announced the addition of Aerick Sanders to the men’s basketball coaching staff. Sanders joins the Phoenix from Kansas City, where he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach.
“I cannot contain my excitement over Aerick Sanders joining our program,” commented Gottlieb. “I’ve known Aerick since he was 14 years old and he has always been one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I’ve come into contact with. Our Phoenix family will love how he connects with both the players and our community while being a tremendous basketball coach. Aerick was unheralded out of high school, and he scored over 2,000 points as a player. He is outstanding as a tactician and recruiter, and he is similarly an incredible coach. Welcome to the Tundra Aerick “8th Grade” Sanders.”
Sanders helped the Roos become one of the best defensive units in the Summit League in 2022-23, with KC finishing third in rebounds per game (36.3) and second in scoring defense (69.3 PPG). He coached two Second Team All-Summit League members in Shemarri Allen and RayQuawndis Mitchell, who also earned All-Newcomer honors.
“I’m hyped to join Coach Gottlieb at UWGB as an Assistant Coach!,” said Sanders. “We’re about to build a legacy of hustle, heart, and victory! Thank you Josh Moon for this incredible opportunity. I’m excited to join the Green Bay Community – See you in the gym!”.
