Sanders named Video coordinator at New Mexico

Head coach Craig Neal has added to his men’s basketball staff with the appointment of Benjamin Sanders as the team’s video coordinator. Sanders joins the Lobos after holding the same position at Rice University last season. He replaces Brandon Mason who was named assistant coach at New Mexico Highlands University.

He will be responsible for handling all of the program’s video needs, including game film, practice film and coaches’ film. He will also oversee UNM’s student manager program and staff.

“We are very excited to add Ben to our program,” said head coach Craig Neal. “He comes to us with good experience as the video coordinator at Rice and as an assistant coach prior to that. Ben will be an important part of our staff as he handles all of our program’s video needs.”

Sanders was the video coordinator for coach Ben Braun and the Rice Owls in 2013-14 after spending the previous season as a graduate assistant on Braun’s staff.

Prior to his time with Rice, Sanders spent two seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Alfred University in New York State. He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach in the prep ranks in Austin, Texas at Austin and Westlake High schools.

Sanders played his collegiate basketball (2005-09) at NCAA Division III Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where he appeared in 91 games for the Pirates. He earned his degree from Southwestern in Kinesology in 2009. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Alfred University.
