Sam Santiago has joined the Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach.
Santiago is an alum of the college, having played for then Brevard Community College from 1998 – 2000. As a sophomore, he helped that team to an undefeated Conference Championship, going 12-0, as well as a State Championship, defeating Northwest Florida (then Okaloosa Walton) in the State Championship game. This earned an appearance in the national tournament, in which the team finished 6th in the country with a 29-7 record.
Santiago later joined the Army, which included two tours in Iraq. After his second deployment, he returned to Brevard County and joined the Eastern Florida (then Brevard Community College) Women’s Basketball program as an assistant coach.
Most recently, Santiago has been on staff at Space Coast High School, where he coached the not only Boys Basketball, but also assisted with the girls team and the varsity track & field team.
Santiago still serves in the Army Reserves as an instructor.
