Schoch Named Associate Head Basketball Coach at Pfeiffer University

Pfeiffer University head men’s basketball coach Jeremy Currier has announced the promotion of Pete Schoch to the position of associate head coach. Schoch is entering his fourth season at Pfeiffer and has played an intricate role in establishing Pfeiffer University as one of the best basketball programs in the country.

“We are extremely excited to announce the elevation of Pete Schoch to associate head coach,” Currier said. “He has worked tirelessly to recruit great student-athletes to our basketball program, and has played a large role in our opponent scouting and player development programs over the last three years. Pete is one of the best in the business and we are so fortunate to have him back again this year.”

Prior to his time at Pfeiffer, Schoch spent 13 years as the head coach at Father Gabriel Richard High School in Michigan. Schoch built Father Gabriel into a powerhouse men’s program while leading his teams to five Detroit Catholic League Conference Championship, eight District Championships, one Regional Titles, and Michigan State Tournament Final Four appearances. Schoch was named the Detroit Catholic League Coach of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, named the Ann Arbor News Men’s Coach of the Year in 2006, and 2008, and honored by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan – Special Mention Coach of the Year Statewide in 2008.

Schoch played a key role in the 2016-17 season which saw the Falcon spend the majority of the season nationally ranked in the Top 25 and led the NCAA in scoring (104.3ppg), forced turnovers per game (23.39), total steals (391), and turnover margin (+10.4). Pfeiffer finished 26-5 with a Conference Carolinas regular season championship and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
