Clark head men’s basketball coach Tyler Simms announced the addition of Calvin Seward as an assistant coach to his staff earlier this week.
“We are very excited to have Calvin join our program,” said Simms. “He has shown a high character and a great ability to connect with student-athletes on and off the court, and in recruiting. His background playing and coaching at the Division III level, combined with his work ethic will greatly benefit all aspects of our student-athlete’s experience!”
Seward arrives in Worcester after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Eastern Nazarene as well as the head JV coach for the Lions. He played an instrumental role in guiding the Lions to its first regular season conference championship in program history and made the NECC Conference Championship Game in the 2021-22 season.
Seward also assisted in recruiting efforts, including 2022 NECC Player of the Year Bernie McGuinness as well as creating scouting reports, film edits, graphic design, social media, practice planning, academic advising, and helping plan the summer camp.
At the AAU level, Seward has been a head men’s basketball coach at Breakout Basketball Academy since 2021. Seward has helped organize and plan tournament schedules, coached weekly practices, recruited athletes, won multiple Zero Gravity Tournaments, qualified for Zero Gravity Nationals, and organized summer camps through the Academy. He is also a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Prior to joining the Eastern Nazarene staff, Seward was a four-year letterman for Hartwick College, where he played in 68 career games. Seward graduated from Hartwick in 2021 with a bachelor of science in criminal justice and is currently pursuing a master of science in management from Eastern Nazarene.
