Shenandoah hires assistant

Shenandoah University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Rob Pryor announced the addition of David Matturro as his lead assistant coach Friday morning.

Matturro, who graduated Cum Laude from St. John Fisher in 2006, comes to Shenandoah after serving for the past 18 months as the Director of Basketball Operations at Mount St. Mary’s University.

He takes the lead assistant position that opened up last month when Allen Corbin, who had been Pryor’s top assistant in all three years that Pryor has headed up the SU program, departed for the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

In addition to his experience with the Mounties, Matturro has served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Siena College and as a Graduate Manager at Virginia Commonwealth.

Matturo earned his Master’s Degree in Sport Leadership from VCU in 2012 and served as the graduate manager with the Rams when the squad qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

His first post-collegiate coaching experience came at the high school level as an assistant coach at Boys Latin School in Baltimore.
