Shippensburg update

I mentioned earlier today that I had heard IUP associate head coach Chris Fite had interviewed at Shippensburg (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/90a0c96b/daily-dirt-5-8-13/…). I can now confirm that and have the names of the rest of the candidates. Here’s the complete list along with their interview dates:

Tuesday, May 7: Marcus Kahn

Kahn is the head men’s basketball coach at Cabrini College, having posted a 127-25 record over the last five seasons. Kahn has led the Cavaliers to five straight conference titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, including a 2011-12 campaign in which the team went 31-2 and played in the NCAA Division III championship game. Last season, the Cavaliers went 25-6, won the Colonial States Athletic Conference championship and reached the NCAA Elite Eight. Prior to Cabrini, Kahn spent six seasons as the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg and has served as an assistant coach at multiple schools.

Wednesday, May 8: Chris Fite

Fite is the associate head men’s basketball coach at IUP and has been an assistant coach with the Crimson Hawks for the last seven seasons. The Crimson Hawks have posted at least 22 victories and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the past five seasons. Last season, IUP went 26-6, won the PSAC Tournament and reached the Atlantic Region championship game. Fite has also worked as an assistant coach at the University of Rochester and Saint Vincent College.

Thursday, May 9: Justin Potts

Potts is the associate head men’s basketball coach at East Stroudsburg University and has been an assistant coach with the Warriors for the last 11 seasons. During his tenure, Potts has helped the Warriors build a program that has reached the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament in seven of the last eight seasons, including a conference championship in 2011-12. East Stroudsburg has reached the NCAA Tournament in three of the last four seasons. Potts also previously served as ESU’s acting head women’s basketball coach in 2009-10. Prior to East Stroudsburg, Potts worked as an assistant coach at Moravian College.

Friday, May 10: Thomas Curle

Curle is the head men’s basketball coach at Plattsburgh State University, having posted a 171-108 record over the last 10 seasons. Curle has led the Cardinals to four 20-win seasons and five NCAA Tournament appearances – including a 2012-13 team that finished 20-9. Prior to joining Plattsburgh, Curle was the head men’s basketball coach at both SUNY Institute of Technology and Post University. He also spent nine seasons as a head coach at the junior college level with Alfred State University. Overall, he has posted 265 victories at the NCAA level and 170 victories at the junior college level.

Monday, May 13: Tae Norwood

Norwood is an assistant men’s basketball coach at Northern Michigan University, having spent one season with the Wildcats. Norwood has worked 10 seasons as an assistant coach at a variety of schools, including Grambling State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Georgia Southern University, Bloomsburg University and Florida Southern University. While at Florida Southern, Norwood helped lead the Moccasins to Sunshine State Conference regular season and tournament championships and a NCAA Division II Tournament berth.
