After a record-setting 2013-14 season, Towson University head men’s basketball coach Pat Skerry’s contract has been extended by one year and now runs through the 2019-2020 season.

Skerry, who signed a contract extension through 2018-19 during the offseason last year, will see the terms of his contract remain the same with the additional year being added on.

“Our men’s basketball program has excelled under the leadership of Coach Skerry and we’re thrilled to extend his contract through the 2019-20 season,” said Towson Director of Athletics Tim Leonard. “Pat and his staff have done an extraordinary job recruiting and developing the type of student-athletes that work tremendously hard both on the court and in the classroom. Pat and his wife Kristen, along with the entire staff, have truly embraced being part of the Towson family and community. I couldn’t be more excited about the future of our men’s basketball program moving forward under his leadership.”

Skerry guided Towson to its best ever season at the Division I level in 2013-14. The Tigers finished 25-11 overall and 13-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The 25 wins are the most for the program at the Division I level and third most in a season all-time. Towson was one of just 44 teams in the country (out of 349) to record at least 25 wins during the 2013-14 season.

The Tigers also made their first postseason appearance since 1991 and won the programs first two Division I postseason games. Towson claimed a pair of road victories in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament at USC Upstate and East Tennessee State.

The Tigers, who played a school-record 36 games last season, posted their first ever Top 100 RPI finish, ending the year at No. 97. Under Skerry, Towson has posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1992-93 and 1993-94.
