Some small college news and rumors….

Following up on a blog from last night….the last line in my “Daily Dirt” was: “A couple of small college situations to keep an eye on… Chowan (NC) and Lincoln (IL). Where there’s smoke, there’s fire….( http://hoopdirt.com/blog/c09535c0/daily-dirt-3-29-12/…). I’ve gotta thank some great sources for getting us out in front of these two stories. Today, both schools officially announced the changes.

Chowan has not retained head coach Dan DeRose. In his two seasons at Chowan, he went 13-43 (6-28 CIAA). A national search will be conducted to replace him. Here’s the official release: http://gocuhawks.com/news/2012/3/30/MBB_0330124606.aspx…

Also, Lincoln (IL) head coach Kirk Whiteman has resigned. Whiteman had been the head coach at Lincoln for the since 2008. Apparently he is moving into the business world, and will serve as the vice president of Dynamic Technical Services. No word yet on his replacement.

Matt Cross has resigned due to health reasons at Lamar State College-Port Arthur. Cross went 74-30 during his three seasons at the helm. The search for his replacement will begin immediately.

Another candidate has emerged at Raritan Valley CC. I mentioned Union County CC head coach Joan Sanchez last night. You can now add former Passaic County CC head coach Rich Corsetto to the list. Before Passaic, he was the head coach at Hudson County CC. He has over 30 years experience as a head coach.
