Here are some updates on four searches that are currently on going:

VIRGINIA STATE

• I have heard that the search to replace Darryl Jacobs (departed for Queens College) is in full swing at Virginia State. There are a bunch of guys involved including current assistant Darryl Butler. Butler has been on the staff for the past two years. It sounds like this search could be wrapped up very quickly – stay tuned.

WENTWORTH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MA)

• The search for the next head coach at Wentworth (MA) is in the final stages. I have heard that there are three of four finalists who are all having their final interviews with the AD this week. Two guys who I’ve heard are interviewing are Cornell assistant Arlen Galloway and Rhode Island College assistant Anthony Leonelli. It also sounds like there is at least one more DIII assistant involved. The announcement should be made sometime next week or so.

LAWSON STATE CC (AL)

• Lawson State CC (AL) is wrapping up their search. I have heard that the two finalists are Mike Smith – former assistant at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and Willie Watts – former interim Head Coach at Marion Military CC. No word on when an announcement will be made.

NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE

• The search to replace Steve Forbes at NWF is now underway. Multiple sources are reporting that former Florida A&M head coach Mike Gillespie is the front runner here. He was the head coach at FAMU from 2001-2001 (91-94), and has also been the head coach at St. Leo (FL) and Tallahassee CC (FL). We’ll keep following this one.
