A last minute resignation at the DIII level….

Alma College head coach Terry Smith has announced his resignation and will join the women’s staff at Michigan State (his alma mater). Smith was just 13-62 in his three seasons at Alma. He was also the head coach at Grand Valley State and Lake Superior State. With a new gym on campus for Alma, this looks like it could be a pretty good job. Not sure which way AD John Leister will go with this job. Former Alma women’s coach Charlie Goffnett is currently a men’s assistant at the school (he retired last season after 22 years on the women’s side). He may be named as the interim coach – it is very late to do any kind of search at this point. The start of practice is just over a month away! Should be an interesting situation to follow.
