Snow College adds Perkins as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Snow College men’s basketball Head Coach Andrew May has announced the hiring of Josh Perkins as an assistant coach.

“I’m excited to have Josh Perkins join our staff,” May said. “Josh is a bright, hard working and passionate coach. His desire to coach at the next level coupled with his experience and work ethic really stood out among candidates. Josh has been mentored by some of the best in the business, and he understands the commitment necessary to help us continue to grow our program. He is hungry and ready to help our players develop and progress. Josh is a great fit for our program because he is a student of the game, and his growth mindset fits the culture we have at Snow College. I am looking forward to working with Josh!”

Perkins comes to Snow College from Utah Valley University where he worked as a graduate assistant coach under now University of California Coach and NBA veteran Mark Madsen. During his time at UVU, Perkins helped the Wolverines to the most wins in school history in a season, Western Athletic Conference regular season champions, first appearance in school history in the NIT, and an NIT Final Four appearance. Perkins will be graduating with a masters in Public Service from UVU in the Fall.

Prior to his time at UVU, Perkins worked as a manager for the Weber State men’s basketball team. There he assisted in video coordinating, basketball operations, travel, and assisted in player workouts.  Perkins also has high school coaching experience where he worked as an assistant coach at Northridge high school.

As a player Perkins is a two-time state champ at Bountiful high school in 2014 & 2015.

“I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity that Coach May has given me to be a part of this amazing community and serve as a coach and mentor to our student-athletes Perkins said. His extensive coaching experience and personal character were a major factor in my decision to join the team. As a coach, I was seeking an opportunity to join a program that aligns with my values and goals. Snow College basketball offered just that, with its strong school culture, experienced coaching staff, and supportive community. I am excited to share my experiences from Weber State and Utah Valley to help our student athletes achieve their aspirations on and off the court. I am excited to get work. Go Badgers!”
