Brian Sondey was recently named as the Head Coach of the Rockland CC Men’s Basketball program. Coach Sondey comes to Rockland with an extensive coaching resume, most notably having served as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Concordia College from 2010-2018. After his time at Concordia, he moved on to hold assistant coaching positions at the College of New Rochelle and Manhattanville College.

“We are thrilled to have Brian Sondey lead our Men’s Basketball program,” says Director of Athletics, Ed Bajor. Coach Sondey possesses qualities as a coach, leader and recruiter that will allow the program to grow quickly with committed student-athletes looking to better themselves through higher education, basketball and life skills. I’m excited for what’s to come.”

With the 2020-21 season cancelled due to the pandemic, Rockland looks to rebound despite losing out on a full year of development, “From the minute I arrived on campus I could tell that our Athletic Department and administration are fully committed to re-starting athletics after a cancelled season due to the pandemic.  They have a strong vision for our programs at RCC.  I am honored and humbled that they have selected me to lead the men’s basketball program.  Thank you to Ed Bajor, Dr. Bart Grachan, and Dr. Michael Baston for making this possible,” says Brian Sondey.  “For ten years I have coached in the Westchester/Rockland area and have always been impressed with the competition in Region 15. Local basketball is in my blood and I cannot wait to be a part of these rivalries. We look forward to building a strong roster of student athletes, student FIRST, who represent the college and community with passion.  Rockland is a big time basketball proving ground and our foundation will be local players. My entire family, wife Toni and son Tre, can’t wait to be a part of the Hawks family this fall.”

The Men’s Basketball team will begin it’s 25 game season on November 2nd and will host its home opener on November 13th against Hudson Valley Community College.
