University of South Dakota head basketball coach Craig Smith has verbally agreed to a new three-year contract according to the Argus Leader. The new deal will pay Smith a reported $275,000 per season, up from his last deal that paid him $196,000. Smith was a finalist for the vacancy at Drake before removing his name from consideration earlier this week. USD finished 22-11 this past year and earned their first-ever NIT berth. For his efforts, Smith was honored as the Summit League Coach of the Year.
