Head Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim and the University of South Florida men’s basketball program announced the promotions of Joi Williams, Ben Fletcher, and Griffin McHone on Friday.
Joi Williams – Chief of Staff/General Manager
Williams, a USF graduate, finished her first season back on campus as the chief of staff. She has been elevated to chief of staff/general manager. Before her return to South Florida, Williams was the assistant athletic director for women’s basketball at Mississippi State. She played for the Bulls from 1984-89 and brought over 20 years of head coaching experience in her return to Tampa. Her experience and insights played a key role in the success during the 2023-24 campaign, including a 25-8 record and an American Athletic Conference regular season title.
Ben Fletcher – Associate Head Coach
Fletcher served as an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season, his first at USF, and has been promoted to associate head coach after a stellar first year in Tampa. He was a vital part of the best record in USF men’s basketball history with a 25-8 mark and a regular season AAC Championship, the first in program history. Fletcher came to USF after serving as associate head coach under Abdur-Rahim at Kennesaw State during the Owl’s historic run in 2022-23.
Griffin McHone – Assistant Coach
After his first year in Tampa serving as the director of player development, McHone has been elevated to an assistant coach. He was a crucial piece in the development of the Bulls’ 2023-24 squad that set a program record with 25 wins and claimed the program’s first-ever regular season conference championship. McHone followed Abdur-Rahim from Kennesaw State after their historic 2022-23 season.
