Talladega College has announced the appointment of Chad Bailey as assistant men’s basketball coach. With a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success, Bailey is set to play a crucial role in helping the Tornadoes achieve new heights in the upcoming season.
Bailey joins the Talladega coaching staff with experience in player development, game strategy, and recruitment. His passion for the game, combined with his commitment to mentoring student-athletes, makes him a perfect fit for the Tornadoes as they continue to build on their legacy of excellence.
“We are excited to welcome him to the brotherhood,” said Dannton Jackson, Talladega College head men’s basketball coach. “The biggest thing we look for in our program is a track record of character, work ethic and knowledge of the game. Coach Bailey embodies those qualities with his experience at the Junior College and Division I level.”
Bailey, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is entering his first season with the Tornadoes after serving as assistant coach and director of player personnel at Northwestern State University. Previously, Bailey served as assistant coach for Tallahassee Community College under Rick Cabrera. Bailey helped lead the TCC Eagles to a combined 52-16 record, including a 32-6 mark and an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament semifinals in 2022-23.
Prior to his stint at TCC, Bailey spent several years as a Southeastern Louisiana University student manager under former SLU head coach Jay Ladner. He was promoted to graduate assistant by head coach David Kiefer in June of 2019. He has worked to develop numerous notable players, including Southeastern’s Keon Clergeot, Southland’s second-leading scorer in 2020-21; Marlain Veal, a two-time first-team All-Southland selection, the 2017-18 SLC Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team NABC All-Region selection; as well as all-conference selection Gus Okafor.
He earned both his undergraduate degree in business management in 2018 and a master’s degree in kinesiology in 2021 from Southeastern Louisiana University.
As the Tornadoes gear up for the new season, the addition of Bailey to the coaching staff signals a continued commitment to excellence. With his expertise and leadership, Talladega College is poised to build on its successes and make a significant impact in the coming years.
