The Sage Colleges’ Department of Athletics has announced the selection of Taylor Baker (Hoosick Falls, NY) as the newest member of the men’s basketball coaching staff. Baker will serve as the graduate assistant coach for Brian Barnes and the Gator men’s basketball team.
Brian Barnes said of his selection, “We’re thrilled to welcome Taylor as our first-ever graduate assistant coach.” Barnes continued, “As a former collegiate student-athlete, Taylor has experiences that will benefit our team both on the court and in the classroom. As a former Section II standout, we’re excited to capitalize on his local recruiting relationships around the Capital District. Taylor was impressive throughout the interview process and his references tabbed him as a “slam dunk” for our program.”
Baker graduated from Southern Vermont College in 2017 with a degree in Sports Management. During his time as a student-athlete at SVC, Baker was selected to attend the NCAA convention as a conference representative. Baker was also chosen to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in June of 2017. After graduating college, Baker was an assistant coach at SUNY Canton with the men’s soccer program from August of 2017 to March of 2018.
He played four seasons of college soccer and one season of college basketball at Southern Vermont College. Baker also has worked with the Hoosick Falls Youth Center as the coordinator of youth basketball and has also served as a volunteer with the Hoosick Armory, Youth Center and Community Coalition from 2008 until 2016.
