Paris Junior College will soon be missing a basketball coach, but not for long, according to Paris Junior College president Dr. Pam Anglin.
“Coach Chuck Taylor is leaving us for a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I team in North Carolina,” said Dr. Anglin. “We will miss him but we’re thankful for the time he’s been at PJC and all the accomplishments he has brought to the college, as well as his concern for the students. He cared as much or more for their educational attainments as for their athletic achievement. We wish him the very best.”
Taylor was twice named NJCAA Region XIV Coach of the Year, in 2011-12 and 2013-14. In each of those years the Dragons won the regular season conference title, 26-8 in the 2013-14 season and 24-7 in 2011-12. In the 2013-14 season the Dragons were Region XIV Tournament Champions, and made it to the Sweet 16 round in the NJCAA National Tournament. His record at PJC is 103-52.
Though Coach Taylor will leave big shoes to fill, PJC will be immediately searching for a replacement. The Dragons will be ready for the coming season.
“We’ll have someone in place as quickly as possible to maintain the continuity of the program,” said Dr. Anglin.
