Some names are beginning to surface in the search to replace Will Wade at Tennessee-Chattanooga. Parker is handling the search, and they are in the very early stages with this one. I have now spoken to multiple people surrounding this one, and the names that I am hearing are:
- Rod Balanis – Assistant Coach Notre Dame. He has been with Mike Brey at ND since 2000. Also spent four seasons as an assistant at Colgate after he wrapped up his playing career at Georgia Tech.
- Robert Ehsan – Associate head coach UAB. Just wrapped up his third season at UAB. Spent six years at Maryland with Gary Williams before joining Seth Greenberg’s staff at Virginia Tech in 2011.
- Eric Konkol – Assistant Coach Miami. Came to Miami from George Mason with Jim Larranaga in 2011. Previously worked in administrative roles for Buzz Peterson at both Tulsa and Tennessee.
- Wes Long – Assistant Coach Tennessee-Chattanooga. Former head coach at Queens University of Charlotte. Was hired by Will Wade two years ago at UTC. Went 75-66 in his five seasons at Queens.
- Matt McCall – Assistant Coach Florida. Has been with Billy Donovan for the past four seasons at UF. Also spent time working as an assistant to Mike Jarvis at Florida Atlantic.
There may also be 2 or 3 current head coaches involved, but waiting on confirmation of that. I will keep you updated as I hear more.
