Terry Johnson joins Houston Christian Basketball Staff

Terry Johnson has joined the men’s basketball staff at Houston Christian as an assistant coach.

Johnson comes to HCU after spending the past two seasons at California State-Northridge, where he served under his father and longtime college coach, Trent Johnson.

No stranger to the Southland Conference, Johnson was an assistant coach in various roles at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2014-21. He helped TAMUCC to appearances in the SLC Tournament title game in 2016 and again in 2017 when the Islanders advanced to the championship game of the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament.

Prior to his time in Corpus Christi, Johnson had coaching stints at University of St. Thomas, as well as his alma mater, California State-Stanislaus.

A 6’6 forward, Johnson began his college playing career at Moorpark College before transferring to Stanislaus for his final two seasons, graduating with a degree in Kinesiology.
