Here are some of the names that I’ve heard surrounding the search at Texas Tech…
• Doc Sadler –Director of basketball operations Kansas. Former head coach at Nebraska and UTEP. Has a 149-107 career record as a DI head coach. He has also been the head coach at Arkansas Fort Smith, and served as an assistant at seven DI schools.
• Chris Walker – Interim head coach Texas Tech. Took over for Billy Gillispie in October 2012. Has met with AD Kirby Hocutt and has been told that he will be in the mix. Was forced to fire his entire staff earlier this month. TTU went 11-20 this past season under his leadership. Has also been an assistant at New Mexico and Villanova.
• Scott Sutton – Head coach Oral Roberts. His team is currently 20-14 and still playing in the CIT. Has been at the helm at ORU for the past 13 seasons (270-176). He is the son of the legendary Eddie Sutton.
• Steve McClain – Associate head coach Indiana. Has been at IU for the past three seasons. Was the head coach at Wyoming from 1998-2007 (157-115). Won a National Championship in 1994 as the head coach at Huntchison (KS) CC.
• Barry Hinson – Head coach Southern Illinois. Just completed his first season at Southern Illinois. Like Sadler, was the DBO at Kansas before taking the job at SIU. He was the head coach at Oral Roberts from 1997-99 (36-23) and at Missouri State 1999-2008 (169-117).
