As you guys know, we here at HoopDirt are current college basketball coaches. We love getting info up on the site, but some days it is more difficult than others. We are still trying to get a two players late here, so our attention has been elsewhere to start the week. As we try to nail them down, here are some of the rumors that I’ve heard along the way…..
Lots of action up in New England…..
What is going on at Dartmouth. I am now hearing that all three assistants (the volunteer included) have resigned. We can confirm that they have all left, just not sure why. Check out the staff directory at Dartmouth – all three assistants listed as TBA…

Is this a situation like DePaul – a way for Terry Dunn to buy another year by making staff changes? We’ll let you know as we hear more.
We’re starting to hear some merit to the Ralph Willard to Louisville rumors. Several people close to the situation can confirm that Coach Pitino did reach out to Coach Willard about joining his staff at Louisville. The two are good friends and Willard has worked for Pitino in the past (87-89 Knicks, 89-90 Kentucky). This would be an intriguing move for Willard. He’s done a great job at Holy Cross, taking them to the Big Dance 4 times (winning 4 Patriot League Championships along the way). Not sure how much more he can do there. Going to Louisville would put him in a position to win a National Championship (albeit as an assistant).
DIII Gordon College is close to announcing the replacement for Mike Shauer. Our sources tell us they want to make an announcement by June 15th. As a nondenominational Christian college, expect someone from a similar school to assume the reigns.
Lastly, Doug Flutie’s brother Darren has resigned as the head basketball coach at Natick HS. He was only there for one season, going 6-14. I didn’t realize that Darren is the Canadian Football League’s second all-time leader in catches. We don’t cover a lot of HS stuff, but I though this was pretty cool.
