TMU Men’s Basketball Welcomes Assistant Coach Lyle Jones

Truett McConnell University Head Men’s Basketball Jon Yeh announces Lyle Jones as the new assistant men’s coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season.

Lyle Jones begins his first season as Truett McConnell’s Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. Jones arrived to Cleveland fresh off a two year graduate assistant position at East Carolina University (ECU) in the powerful American Athletic Conference.

Under head coach Jeff Lebo, Jones supported ECU’s program in various roles. Jones assisted with in-game statistics and matchups, opponent scouting, film and statistical analysis, recruiting organization, practice, and player workouts. He also helped monitor student athlete academic progress, coordinated student managers, organized and administered team equipment and apparel, and traveled to all away contests. Additionally, he assisted in the administration of the Jeff Lebo Basketball Camps. Jones earned his master’s degree in Sport Management in May 2017 from ECU.

Jones received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 2015, double majoring in Business Administration and Political Science. He played two seasons on North Carolina’s famed Junior Varsity team under UNC Assistant Coach and former NBA star Hubert Davis and spent one season as a junior varsity manager. While at UNC, Jones volunteered as a discipleship group leader and participated in multiple summer programs with Campus Outreach.

Jones is a native of nearby Franklin, N.C. He graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in 2011 while playing under Coach Roger Cox.
