Today’s coaching rumors…..

A few things that I picked up this morning…..

Chipola JC coach Greg Heiar is a done deal at Southern Mississippi. He will officially join Larry Eustacy’s staff next week after his paper work is finalized. Heiar was 164-15 at Chipola including an NJCAA Final Four appearance this year. The Iowa native has been close friends with Eustacy for a long time.

As I said yesterday, New Mexico assistant Chris Walker is headed to Villanova (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/7e7bfcbb/walker-to-be-hired-at-…). It looks like the leading candidate to replace him is Wyking Jones. Jones played at Loyola Marymount and then was an assistant to Paul Westhead at Pepperdine. He currently serves as Nike’s traveling-team manager.

The leading candidate to replace Grant McCasland at Midland College is Alvin Brooks III. Brooks is currently an assistant at Bradley. He played at Midland for two seasons (1998-2000), and was an assistant on their 2007 National Championship team.

Lastly, we are up to 499 friends on Facebook – who will be #500?? We’ll give you a shout-out in our next blog if you want (or maybe you don’t want to admit that you read our site – that would be ok with us – we can keep it quiet!)
