Todd Kelly has been named as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Dallas Christian College. He replaces former head coach Dwight Coleman, who passed away unexpectedly in early April.
Kelly comes to DCC with almost 20 years of experience as a head coach at both the high school and college levels. Coach Kelly was born and raised in Chicago and was most recently the head coach at Illinois Tech in Chicago from 2014-2020. At Illinois Tech Kelly inherited a zero win team and within 3 years he guided the program to its first 20 win season in over 30 years. Kelly led IIT to the USCAA championship in 2017 and the NACC championship game in 2019. The program went 70-39 over Kelly’s last four seasons with four consecutive postseason appearances. Coach Kelly was named both USCAA and AD3I coach of the year 2018.
Prior to Illinois Tech, Coach Kelly was the associate head coach at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. At North Central, Kelly helped lead the program to back to back NCAA sweet 16 appearances and the 2013 final four. During his time at North Central they went 91-47. No stranger to the high school ranks, Kelly was the head coach at Providence St. Mel from 2006-2009. At PSM, Kelly led the team to the 2009 Prep Conference title and was named 2009 Prep Conference Coach of the Year.
Kelly competed at both Millikin University and East Central University earning his bachelor’s degree in communication from Millikin University. He earned his masters degree in sports management from Western Illinois University. Kelly will be joined at DCC by his wife Adrianne, daughter Amelia and son Austen.
