University of Toledo Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the promotions of Justin IngramĀ and Jordan Lauf on Wednesday to men’s basketball assistant coach and director of operations, respectively.
“The promotion of Justin and Jordan to their new roles was an extremely easy decision for me and will lead to a seamless transition for our program,” Kowalczyk said. “They both are extremely talented individuals who did a great job for us last season. I love the fact they both know what it means to play for the Rockets, and that they are committed to making our program the best it can be.”
Ingram joined the Rockets’ program prior to the 2017-18 campaign as its director of operations. Before returning to the UT campus, he served as an associate head coach for one season at Olivet (Mich.) College after playing professionally overseas in France, Hungary, Estonia, Greece and Switzerland.
A 2007 UT graduate, Ingram was inducted into UT’s Varsity ‘T’ Hall of the Fame in 2014 and is tied for 10th on the Rockets’ all-time scoring list. Ingram earned 2003-04 MAC Freshman of the Year honors, second-team All-MAC laurels as a junior and received first-team All-MAC accolades as a senior while helping Toledo win the 2006-07 MAC regular season title with a 14-2 record.
Lauf served as the Rockets’ graduate assistant coach this past season. A 2017 UT graduate, Lauf concluded his Rocket career in 2017 by posting a team-high 59.0 field-goal percentage, ranking second on the team with 6.2 rpg and averaging 8.3 ppg. A two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, Lauf holds the UT record with 133 games played.
The promotions of Ingram and Lauf came as a result of associate head coach Jason Kalsow stepping down from his position in late August following eight seasons on the Rocket bench. Kalsow has moved to California along with his wife Allie, who was hired by Spectrum Sports as a pre-game and post-game studio host for the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Jason was not only a tremendously loyal assistant coach but a great friend,” Kowalczyk said. “I’m extremely happy for him and Allie as they begin their new life in California. One of the many things I loved about Jason is that he was in the coaching profession for the right reasons. He will be successful no matter what career path he chooses.”
