State College of Florida names Tom Parks as the SCF Men’s Basketball Coach. Parks will assume the position of Head Basketball Coach/Athletic Operations on June 18th.

“First of all, I want to thank the State College of Florida Athletic Director Matt Ennis and the entire committee for selecting me as their next head coach. Choosing me shows how much confidence and belief they have in me to lead the men’s basketball team in a positive direction,” said Parks.

Immediately prior to coming to State College of Florida, Parks served as an assistant coach at Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) in Melbourne, Florida. The team had a record of 30-5 and was ranked 6th in the nation in the final National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Poll. EFSC finished 3rd in the 2017-18 NJCAA national tournament. Parks NJCAA coaching careeer began at Sheridan College where he served as the Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach from 2014-2017. He, also, served as a Health and Wellness professor while at Sheridan College.

Athletic Director, Matt Ennis, said “Tom Parks is a tremendous addition to our athletic staff. His leadership and passion on and off the basketball court will be instrumental in returning SCF to the conference, state, and national prominence we once enjoyed. Parks’ personal experience as a former NJCAA student-athlete, professional basketball player, and current NJCAA Region 8 coach are all assets to be leveraged as he recruits, teaches, and competes at our level”

After his final college season as a player, Parks served as a graduate assistant coach at Northern State University where he earned a Master of Education in Sport Performance and Leadership. As a graduate transfer, he played his final year at Northern State University. He transferred from Youngstown State after earning a Bachelor of Science in Business. Parks earned his Associates Degree while playing basketball at Sheridan College.

“I am beyond excited for this opportunity. From the moment I stepped foot on campus, it felt like home. With the administrative support and resources available, I truly believe that the Manatees men’s basketball program will be very competitive at the conference, state, and national level. It will take time to rebuild, but it will happen sooner than later.”
