Tulsa Basketball adds Phillips as Director of Creative Content and Branding

The University of Tulsa men’s basketball head coach Eric Konkol announced the appointment of Simeon Phillips as the director of creative content and branding for the Golden Hurricane, completing Konkol’s fulltime staff.

“Simeon was a college football player and has been trained in graphic design,” Konkol said. “He’s very creative, but he also knows what athletics is all about. He’s got experience doing graphic design in a freelance capacity for a couple of other programs and has a great feel for what looks good.”

Phillips comes to Tulsa after spending the spring as a graphic design intern at the University of Hawaii. He also has worked a freelance graphic design artist since 2017. He is the first person to hold this newly created position within the Tulsa men’s basketball program.

“We felt it was important to create a position that could best illustrate how dynamic this campus, our athletic department and our basketball team is,” Konkol said. “We searched for someone who was skilled and could tell the stories on different types of platforms across social media, not just for recruiting student athletes, but also giving our fanbase a real creative look into our program.”

A 2022 graduate of Elon University, Phillips earned his degree in communication design with a minor of art. He was also a member of the football team, where he played on the defensive line.

Philips is a native of Stuart, Fla.
