Uhl added to Waynesburg University men’s basketball staff

Waynesburg University head men’s basketball coach Tim Fusina recently announced the hiring of AJ Uhl as his assistant coach. Uhl comes to Waynesburg with coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels and worked with Fusina at his last two head coaching stops.

Uhl most recently served as the associate head coach of the men’s basketball team at California Lutheran during the 2018-19 season. He was the assistant coach for the Kingsmen during the 2017-18 campaign.

Prior to California Lutheran, Uhl was an assistant men’s basketball coach for Centenary University (N.J.) during the 2016-17 season, where he helped guide the team to a 12-14 overall record. His responsibilities at Centenary included leading all aspects of recruiting, academic coordination, player development, film breakdown and exchange, scouting, practice and game planning.

Before moving to the college ranks, Uhl spent one year (2015-16) at Comsewogue High School, his alma mater, in New York as the head coach of the junior varsity team, assistant coach on the varsity team and offensive coordinator.

Uhl graduated from Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. As a member of the Knights, Uhl was a four-year letterman on a team that had the best four-year record in school history (82-32). He was part of a 2012 team that won the ECAC Championship and led the team in three-point shooting percentage during the 2011-12 and 2013-14 seasons.
