UMBC adds Bryan as MBB Graduate Assistant

Sean Bryan has been named men’s basketball graduate assistant coach it was announced by UMBC head coach Jim Ferry.

“We are extremely excited to have Sean join our staff,” stated coach Ferry. “Sean was a phenomenal college basketball player and brings great energy and passion. His experience will play a big role with our player development.”

Bryan spent the 2022-23 season as the assistant coach at his alma mater, Salem State, located in Salem, Massachusetts. He was responsible for all aspects of the program including recruiting, scouting, instruction during practice and gameday coaching.

The Massachusetts native has been involved with several coaching activities outside of Salem State. He served as head coach for Massachusetts Rivals 15U as well as the 17U Select squad. In 2021, Bryan acted as an assistant coach of the Lowell High School Boys Varsity team. In addition, he was the head coach of the Lowell Boys and Girls Club “Peace League” for children ages 14-17.  Bryan also worked with the Lowell Basketball Club for children ages 6-13.

Bryan enjoyed a heralded playing career at DIII Salem State, where he was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Association (MASCAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Year twice. He was selected as a Third Team All-American by the NABC (National Association Basketball Coaches) in 2022 and was also a First Team All-Region pick. Bryan is the Vikings all-time leader in assists and is second in scoring. He is also a two-time President’s Cup recipient, awarded to the top male athlete at Salem State.

He has also worked as an instructor and administrator at numerous instructional camps such as the Lowell High School Basketball Camp, Salem State Basketball Camp, Rising Stars Basketball Camp, and Terrence Mann Basketball Camp.

Bryan received a bachelor’s degree in recreational sports management and earned a master’s degree in business administration.
