University of Mary Washington head coach Ron Wood has been suspended by the university after his DUI arrest last week. Wood was cited by Fredericksburg police for speeding on Route 1. According to UMW Athletic Director Ed Hegmann, Wood refused to take a breathalyzer once he was pulled over. He was released on Thursday and has a court date set for mid-March. He did not coach the the team in their regular season finale on Saturday. Retiring UMW Athletics Director Ed Hegmann said he will meet with Wood and Doug Searcy, the school’s vice president for student affairs, on Monday to determine Wood’s future status.
