The search at UNC Asheville has been narrowed to three. It sounds like interviews will wrap-up this week, and a decision will be made shortly after that. The three candidates are:
• Nick McDevitt – associate head coach UNC Asheville. I first mentioned him on 4/8 (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/8b7b7ccf/daily-dirt-4-8-13/…) – it seems like he continues to have a lot of support here. He has been a player and assistant at UNCA since 1997 – there are lot of heavy hitters that want to keep this one in the family.
• Billy Taylor – Former head coach Ball State and Lehigh. Was released at Ball State earlier this spring. Has a 150-153 record in ten seasons (81-69 at Lehigh, 69-84 at Ball State). Played at Notre Dame and has also been an assistant at UNC Greensboro.
• Ryan Odom – assistant coach UNC Charlotte. Has been at Charlotte for the past three seasons. Spent seven years at Virginia Tech before that. Also spent one season working for Eddie Biedenbach at UNC Asheville. He is the son of former South Carolina and Wake Forest head coach Dave Odom.
