Union (KY) hires Burton

Union College Interim Director of Athletics Tim Curry announced the hiring of Kevin Burton as the 19th head coach of the Bulldog basketball program. Burton spent seven seasons as the head men’s basketball coach at Lambuth (Tenn.) University before the institution closed due to financial issues. During his tenure with the Eagles, Burton compiled an overall record of 139-75, averaging just fewer than 20 wins per season.

Burton is no stranger to the state of Kentucky. A native of Nicholasville, he graduated from Jessamine County High School before moving on to Asbury College, where he was a captain on its basketball team. In 1999, Burton received his masters from Eastern Kentucky University in sports administration. He became the head men’s basketball coach at St. Catharine College in 2000, coaching the then-junior college for four seasons before moving on to Lambuth.
