After losing out on top choice Mick Cronin earlier this week, UNLV is now moving on in their search for a basketball coach, and conducting interviews with other candidates. UNLV AD Tina Kunzer-Murphy is trying to replace former head coach Dave Rice who she fired back in January.
New Mexico State head coach Marvin Menzies and Arkansas Little Rock head coach Chris Beard appear to be the latest targets here. It is believed that Menzies and Beard have both interviewed at some point over the past 24 hours.
Menzies led his Aggies to a 23-11 (13-1) record this past season. In nine seasons at the school, he has compiled a 198-111 record, including five straight seasons with 22+ wins. Beard just wrapped up his first season at Little Rock with a 30-5 (17-3) record. He also served as an assistant to Bob Knight at Texas Tech, and went 47-15 from 2013-15 as the head coach at Angelo State.
More on this search as I hear it.
