SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) – Police say an assistant basketball coach at the University of Rhode Island was arrested at an arena after a disturbance involving members of the team.
WPRI-TV reports that a South Kingstown police report says Tyron Boswell faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Police say officers had responded Thursday to a reported fight in a men’s bathroom at the Ryan Center. Police allege Boswell yelled at officers who were trying to break up the disturbance and agitated a crowd that had gathered outside the bathroom.
Police allege Boswell struggled with officers as they arrested him.
The university said Monday it is aware of Boswell’s arrest and is cooperating with police. Boswell has been placed on administrative leave.
It’s unclear if Boswell has an attorney who can comment.
