My sources have told me that UTEP head coach Tim Floyd has hired Jason Niblett as an assistant coach. Niblett had been the head coach at Heat Basketball Academy in Martinsville, VA. Two Heat players, Michael Haynes and Desmond Lee, have signed to play for UTEP next year. Haynes is a stud – having turned down offers from Duke and UCLA.

The new NCAA rule prohibits institutions from employing an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete in any athletics department non-coaching staff position. Floyd has not broken any rules here since Niblett will be hired in a coaching capacity.
