Brandon Veltri, a former head coach at Carroll College, has joined the Pepperdine men’s basketball staff as an assistant director of operations for the 2014-15 season.
He will assist the Waves with such duties as video breakdown, scouting, academics, practice and game preparation, and public outreach.
"I am very pleased to have Brandon join our basketball family," Pepperdine Coach Marty Wilson said. "His experience as a former head coach will add value to our basketball staff in every aspect. Brandon will be great with our basketball staff, team and the Pepperdine community."
Veltri was an assistant coach at Adams State University in 2013-14. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Carroll College: the first six as an assistant or associate head coach, and the following four as the head coach.
"I feel very fortunate to be able to work with Coach Marty Wilson and his staff here at Pepperdine," Veltri said. "Coach Wilson is building one of the elite basketball programs on the West Coast. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that this position will present. I am proud to be part of the Pepperdine community and to be able to contribute to Coach Wilson’s effort."
Veltri was the Frontier Conference’s Coach of the Year in 2011 as he led the Fighting Saints to a league title and to the NAIA Tournament’s Round of 16. Under his watch, Carroll had 11 All-Americans, 22 all-conference players and four NAIA Tournament appearances.
He also worked as Carroll’s Sports Information Director from 2003-09.
Veltri, a Salt Lake City native, graduated from Utah with a degree in mass communication/public relations in 2001. He spent his first two years at Peninsula College and played basketball there before transferring. Veltri also earned a master’s degree in physical education/administration from Idaho State in 2003, and served as a graduate assistant with the Bengals’ men’s basketball program.
